Cru Tools
Reaching the World for Christ, starting one person at a time at App State!

As Christ-followers, our purpose is to love the Lord with all our hearts and to love others as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). As we delight ourselves more in Christ, we find we must talk about him and share our joy with others! We have been entrusted to be his ambassadors, “for the love of Christ compels us” (2 Corinthians 5:14 and 20). As Christians, it is important for us to spur one another on, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to be intentional in evangelism.

Evangelism is simply taking the initiative to share about Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and leaving the results to God.

The following Cru Tools are designed to help you both better understand your faith and to better engage in deeper, spiritual conversations. Learning to use these tools is an essential aspect of the App State coaching plan, but even more important is actually using them! You’ll notice that there are only a handful of Cru Tools but the these tools are not something you ever “complete.” Every semester you should be training your coachee how to use these tools and then going out and using them on campus. Once you’ve gone over all the tools, continue to set aside two times a semester to use them together.
The KGP is the first priority for Cru Tool training. This resource is incredibly helpful for both understanding the Gospel and communicating it to others.
How has God worked in your life? Being able to answer this question is important not only for your own growth, but in sharing with others the abundant life God offers.
This is a helpful guide for understanding and communicating the role of the Holy Spirit in the Christian life. Let’s not ignore the power God has given us for living the life he has called us to.
Both of these resources are creative ways for starting meaningful, spiritual conversations. Go deeper with your friends or with people you’ve just met!
If this is your first semester coaching, be sure to set aside one appointment for talking through the KGP and one for helping your disciple think through their testimony. Even if you’re a seasoned coach, be sure that your disciple has been trained in all of these tools. Remember, at least two coaching appointments every semester need to be set aside for learning and/or using these tools!
